Harrys of London spring/summer 2018 collection presentation for LFWM
This was the first invite I received for the LFWM’s SS18 shows so I definitely had to attend. Harrys of London showcased an awesome collection.
Speaking of the SS18 collections, CEO Steven Newey told press “We playfully injected a boost of colour into all our footwear ranges, either on the upper or the sole of each piece. Each style projects their own identity allowing the Harrys man to pick and choose the perfect pair for that specific mood. This season the shoes become a tool for self-expression, for the modern and confident man.”
Displayed on a Tokyo river, the London Eye and inside an aircraft cabin, each of the Contemporary London, Sneakers, Casual and capsule Made to Fly and London ranges are very different. Business formal shoes are updated in navy and pale green, and have the new 3D Technogel sole, whilst the Richard derby is modernised with eye-catching blue and orange soles. Slip-on and lace-up sneakers are adorned with the Sakura cherry blossom print, and the Casual range is transformed by seven new pastel shades, including millennial pink and sky blue.
The icing on the cake of Harry’s collection this season had to be the ‘Made to Fly’ capsule collection; a signpost stating that athleisure for travel is gone. Now, it’s all about being timeless and comfortable. Speaking of the metal-free moccasins, smart trainers, and matching accessories, Newey says: “Made to Fly has been conceived for the international travelling Man… Either with footwear devoid of any metal components, or with accessories which are functional, compact and lightweight, featuring the Harry’s of London design, playfulness and quality.”
