British actress Lashana Lynch has had a big year, as she starred in Marvel blockbuster Captain Marvel. However, things are set to become even better for her. Earlier this week, multiple reports have revealed that she will get a role in the new James Bond movie.
The movie, which has been titled Bond 25, is reportedly already in the early stages of production. Oscar-winner Rami Malek will play the villain for the movie, but the addition of Lashana Lynch will be a big boost to the movie. Lynch will join a star-studded cast, which already includes stars Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, and titular character Daniel Craig.
Sources have revealed that Lashana Lynch will be taking up the mantle of 007 after Craig’s James Bond goes into retirement. The actress was previously confirmed to be a part of the cast, but reports showed her playing a character named “Nomi.”
It is, however, worth remembering that Lynch won’t be taking over the character, which has been historically male-led. Craig will reportedly come back into his role for the movie in order to take down the villain.
The decision to leave the Bond action role as a male-led one is particularly great. Truthfully, casting a female in there won’t theoretically work, as audiences are used to a male Bond. It’s unclear whether her character will even survive the movie, but the prospect is exciting nonetheless.
