The Virgil Abloh-designed London Exclusive Trainer will drop on 4 December
There are trainers and then there are trainers. The former: perfect for a morning jog. The latter: well, they’re designed by the fashion industry’s bigwigs and come in catch-’em-while-you-can quantities.
Virgil Abloh, the successor to Kim Jones over at Louis Vuitton, has made the house his own, in a flurry of colour, splendour and to-die-for luggage – some being wearable. Another thing he’s championed for the Parisian fashion house is trainers. The LV 408 Trainer resembles NBA-style basketball kicks and since Abloh’s Spring/Summer 2019 debut offering, the design has been consistently issued in different colourways, from grey and red to blue and white.
Well, early next month Abloh is dropping a further nine pairs of the aforementioned trainers, with each pair designed specifically for the inhabitants of nine cities across the world. The pair we’re most interested in? The ones designed with the Big Smoke in mind, of course. The LV Trainer is an embodiment of the house – made in Italy, the trainer is embellished with Louis Vuitton house codes, from its monogram across the sole to the number “408” on the upper in reference of 4 August, Louis Vuitton’s date of birth.
